Colourful Architecture

Colourful Architecture

During a recent mini holiday to Italy, I visited a beautiful island called Burano. The island is filled with lots of painted houses, showing a retro 70s colour palette, ranging from deep reds to mustard tones, in addition to sugary pastel brights such as pinks, mint greens and yellow.

The architecture in Burano is quite basic, however the simplicity is very inspiring, as well as the texture of the paint and bricks. There are many interesting arched doors, wooden window shutters, and tiled grounds to take inspiration from.

I have put a board together of photos that have inspired me for colour, texture, and shapes for a new geo print collection that I am working on.
